A supporter of Mississippi Democratic Senate candidate Scott Colom featured in a recent advertisement has frequently posted “86-47,” which some people have interpreted as a call for violence against President Donald Trump.
“Debby from Hernando” appeared in a recent pro-Colom advertisement run by American Bridge 21st Century. Debby from Hernando is an active member of local Democratic activist group Indivisible DeSoto, and has posted “86-47” repeatedly.
Colom is running for Senate against Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R., Miss.), and has served as the District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District of Mississippi since 2016. Colom has built his Senate campaign around his dedication to keeping voters “safe from violent criminals,” as he said he has done as District Attorney.
In the advertisement, the supporter claims while she has “voted Republican in the past,” she feels “pretty betrayed these days.” But she was also featured on a mailer sent out by American Bridge 21st Century’s PAC, AB PAC, attacking Hyde-Smith.
A Washington Reporter review of Debby’s donation filings shows she has donated to progressive Democratic candidates, including more than $200 given directly to Colom’s campaign this year. She has also supported other progressive candidates, including Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), former disgraced Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, and Iowa Senate candidate Josh Turek.
Debby’s posts of “86-47” have come from her Facebook page, where she frequently posts the phrase “86-47” and other political posts, including that compare President Trump to Adolf Hitler.
Former FBI director James Comey was recently indicted for using the same phrase on social media, an event which she posted about online. The same day Comey was indicted, she reposted a post that asked, “I wonder if we all posted 8647 if we would all be indicted?” She captioned the post “8647 #8647.”
Debby is an active member of Indivisible DeSoto, a leftist organization that endorsed Democratic candidates like Colom, and hosts protests, including several “No Kings” protests.
American Bridge 21st Century and its PAC, AB PAC, which worked with Debby on the recent advertisement, is also heavily dependent on wealthy Democrat donors for its funding, and has received funding from George Soros.
Soros personally donated $4.38 million to the group between 2012 and 2018. Soros’ PAC, Democracy PAC, gave $13.15 million in traceable receipts from 2020 and July 2026 for a combined total of at least $17.53 million from Soros and Soros-linked PACs.
The super PAC’s website lists “Republicans We’re Watching” along with a photo and biography of the politicians in an effort to “find what Republicans are hiding and make sure voters hear about it.” Colom’s opponent, Hyde-Smith, is listed on the site.
American Bridge 21st Century and Colom’s campaign did not respond for comment. The Reporter contacted Debby on Facebook, but was blocked by her.
Colom beat two other candidates in Mississippi’s March primary and will face Hyde-Smith in November’s election. Mississippi last elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate in 1982.
