Joe Mitchell is continuing to take over the airwaves in Iowa’s 2nd District with just weeks to go until Election Day, featuring a Vietnam War veteran urging Iowans to “ignore the BS” and to vote for his “friend Joe Mitchell” this November.

Despite Mitchell’s youth — he is only 29 years old — he is leaning in on his experience as both a home builder and as one of the youngest lawmakers in Iowa’s history in his campaign to succeed Rep. Ashley Hinson (R., Iowa). Mitchell’s success as a homebuilder is the focus on his latest ad, which was obtained exclusively by the Washington Reporter.

In the ad, Richard Kutzner, a veteran from Clear Lake, Iowa, acknowledges that he “hate[s] campaign ads.” But, Kutzner said, he is the star of Mitchell’s latest ad because he “won’t sit by while they lie about my friend and neighbor, Joe Mitchell.”

“Joe built this community with homes regular people can afford,” Kutzner added. “He’s a good man, helping families live the American Dream. I trust him.”

“Washington, D.C. needs fewer bureaucrats and more builders,” Mitchell told the Reporter after he released his latest ad. “I’m running for Congress to bring new ideas to make life more affordable for every single Iowan. We are going to fight every day so veterans like Richard and every American can live the American Dream.” His latest ad will run across the district on broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.

In the race’s closing weeks, Democrats have criticized Mitchell’s background, but he has repeatedly turned the tables against them. Lindsay James, Mitchell’s Democratic opponent, claimed that Mitchell was born with a “silver spoon” in his mouth, which Mitchell recently said was not the case.

“My opponent recently ran an ad claiming that I was born with a ‘silver spoon,’” he said in response. “When I showed it to my parents, they laughed and said it was more like a plastic spoon.”
