The Young America’s Foundation (YAF) will commemorate the 45th anniversary of President Ronald Reagan’s historic tax cuts at the Reagan Ranch, where the landmark legislation was signed 45 years ago. Featured speaker Dr. Art Laffer , who played a critical role in the tax cuts, will join the celebration honoring one of the defining economic achievements of the Reagan era.

“We, at Young America’s Foundation are honored to have the privilege to celebrate the historic Reagan tax cuts right where they were signed at the Reagan Ranch,” former Gov. Scott Walker (R., Wis.), the President of YAF, told the Washington Reporter. “As we look back 45 years since the largest tax cuts in American history, it is important to recognize that free-market principles and economic liberty are the answer. Not democratic socialism.”

The event provides an opportunity to reflect on the significance of the Reagan tax cuts and their role in advancing economic opportunity and individual prosperity, especially as the Democratic Party increasingly moves to embrace the Democratic Socialists of America.

The historic reductions in taxes under Reagan helped put more money in the pockets of working Americans and reflected Reagan’s belief that individuals, rather than government, should have greater control over the the earnings of their labor; in President Donald Trump’s second term, the president and congressional Republicans channeled that belief by passing their signature piece of legislation, the Working Families Tax Cuts; every Democrat in Congress voted against that bill — if they had succeeded in derailing it, Americans would have been hit with the largest tax increase in history.

The anniversary celebration will highlight the enduring legacy of Reagan’s economic vision and the belief that lower taxes, economic freedom and limited government can help make the American Dream more attainable for working Americans.

At the Reagan Ranch, a source familiar with the event told the Reporter, YAF will honor the historic moment while looking toward the future and reaffirming the importance of economic liberty and individual opportunity for generations to come.
