“The golden speech for the Golden Age”: Praise pours in for Donald Trump’s “historic” Golden Address
President Donald Trump delivered a masterful address to a joint session of Congress as his historic second term pushes forward into its third month — and the praise is already pouring in.
“The Weave” was strong with the president as he carried his speech through a variety of topics, alternating between touching moments like inducting a child cancer survivor into the Secret Service and highlighting guests like Payton McNabb — who suffered a traumatic brain injury playing volleyball against a transgender man — to pointed policy jabs and digs at Democrat lawmakers — including “Pocahontas” herself.
The speech captivated listeners, energized Americans, and sent his detractors to their therapists. And the reviews are as golden as President Trump’s speech.
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner told the Reporter, “Tonight was powerful.”
“What President Trump accomplished in less than two months is nothing short of remarkable,” Turner said. “At HUD, we will continue carrying out President Trump’s America First Agenda to usher in the Golden Age of Homeownership.”
“While leveraging his signature ‘Weave,’ President Trump was able to artfully maneuver between his vast achievements, actions to correct Joe Biden’s economic nightmare, plans to restore peace around the world, and inspiring guests who represent the importance of delivering on the American people’s mandate,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly told the Reporter. “This was the Golden Speech for the Golden Age, and gifted orator President Trump is ushering in the Renewal of the American Dream.”
Rep. Stephanie Bice (R., Okla.), a Trump ally in Congress, told the Reporter “President Trump’s speech was a testament to the vision of the American people which was suppressed under President Biden.”
“While already achieving record-low border numbers, President Trump is committed to lowering inflation and reversing the Biden administration’s reckless economic policies,” she continued. “We have a lot of work to do, but I am committed to working alongside this administration to achieve their goals and deliver results for the American people,” she continued.
2024 Trump Vance campaign communications strategist and adviser Aaron Harison told the Reporter that President Trump’s signature “Weave” orating style “is, without a doubt, the most captivating and exciting rhetorical innovation of the modern era.”
“When President Trump deploys it, he does so strategically and surgically — it is never predictable and it has the signature Trump quality of mesmerizing the global audience while driving the haters insane,” Harison said. “It is the definition of must-see TV.”
Rep. Claudia Tenney (R., N.Y.) told the Reporter that Trump’s performance was akin to a “GOP home run derby.”
Rep. Andy Barr (R., Ky.), one of Trump’s top allies in Congress, told the Reporter that Trump’s speech was the “greatest” Joint Address “ever delivered by a President who is delivering on a mandate from the American people.”
“And all the Democrats could do is whine and cry,” Barr said. “The left has gone crazy. And President Trump will keep playing them like a fiddle, and winning.”
“Goes right up until 11 pm eastern time and the Democrats’ response won’t air until 11:15,” North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong told the Reporter. “4D chess.”
Rep. Mike Simpson (R., Idaho) said that after “listening to tonight's address, I am optimistic about President Trump's America First vision over the next 4 years, and the American people have countless reasons to celebrate having a real leader back in the White House.”
Former Rep. Anthony D’Esposito told the Reporter that "Democrats have made American streets less safe by coddling criminals like the one who murdered NYPD hero Jonathan Diller.”
“We promised Stephanie and Ryan that we would never forget, and their recognition at the State of the Union is proof that President Trump won't either,” D’Esposito said. “President Trump stood with us on Long Island when we laid Jonathan to rest and stands with us now. We've never had a greater friend to law enforcement in the White House than today.”
“President Trump, AG Pam Bondi, and their crime-fighting team will stand with police, enforce the law, respect the constitution, and reject the reckless policies that put our communities and protectors at risk."
Sen. Eric Schmitt (R., Mo.) told the Reporter, “President Trump’s been clear on [the Panama Canal issue], we’ve offered a resolution in the Senate to say that Panama needs to expel the Chinese…it’s a throwback to the Monroe Doctrine.”
“Nobody in our lifetime has seen a comeback like this…” he continued. “I was also struck by how childish the Democrats were during it.”
Rep. Scott Perry (R., Pa.) told the Reporter that President Trump’s speech “was awesome” and “a knockout.”
“The president owned the room. It was engaging. He was inspirational. He made every American feel like they could do anything,” Franklin said. “I was just disappointed by the Democrats’ reactions. Be happy for the victories for the Americans.”
“You don’t have to love President Trump to be happy about these,” he added.
“In just one month under President Trump, Americans have experienced record results and the renewal of the American Dream with the triumphant return of strong leadership to the Oval Office,” Rep. Elise Stefanik (R., N.Y.), President Trump’s pick to be United Nations ambassador, posted after the speech.
“From securing the border, to cutting wasteful spending of our hard earned taxpayer dollars, to reasserting America First peace through strength leadership to the world stage, President Trump has delivered the most exceptional first month of an American presidency in history,” she continued. “Promises made, promises kept. The American Golden Age is here.”
Daniel Turner, the founder and Executive Director of Power The Future (PTF), told the Reporter that “despite all of the antics, heckling, and protests, Democrats remained silent when President Trump spoke about the previous administration’s disastrous energy policies: closing over 100 power plants, reducing oil and gas leases by 95 percent, and stopping crucial pipeline infrastructures.”
“When prices come down, utilities are cheap, gas is inexpensive, and food is once again affordable, Democrats will find some other cause de jour to campaign on because America will be energy dominant,” Turner said. “No thanks to them.”
“President Trump’s Joint Address made it clear: under President Trump and House and Senate Republicans’ leadership, this is truly the beginning of the Golden Age of America, and we will work hard to make the American Dream a reality once again,” Rep. Jim Baird (R., Ind.) said following the speech.
Before his address, Trump called all of the parents in the Abbey Gate Coalition, a group of Gold Star families whose children were killed during President Joe Biden’s deadly, failed withdrawal from Afghanistan, Steve Nikoui, a Gold Star father whose son, Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, was killed at Abbey Gate, told the Reporter. During Trump’s speech, he declared that his administration extradited the mastermind of the Abbey Gate suicide terrorist attack.
“I can’t believe that after only 42 days in office that President Trump was able to catch and extradite the mastermind of the Abbey Gate bombing,” Nikoui told the Reporter. During Biden’s final State of the Union address, Nikoui was arrested for screaming his son’s name in the congressional chamber. “It is such a stark contrast to the previous administration that killed a family, including children, to deflect from its failures. I know that other families won’t have to endure what we had to, at least not for the next four years.”
"I fought in Afghanistan, and I lost brothers there. I watched Joe Biden throw it all away, and I’ll never forget the cost. Thirteen Americans died because of his failure, and their families have lived with that pain every single day. That never should have happened,” said Congressman Harrigan. “Tonight, President Trump showed the kind of leadership we’ve been missing. In just six weeks, he did what Biden wouldn’t do in four years. He brought the mastermind of Abbey Gate to justice. It’s a step toward accountability, but it won’t bring those heroes back. I ran for Congress to make sure this never happens again. With President Trump in charge, we’re putting America’s strength first and making sure no one is left behind."
Democrats, for their part, had no idea how to handle President Trump. As the president walked to the front of the House chamber to deliver his speech, Rep. Lance Gooden (R., Texas) tore a sign from the hands of Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D., N.M.) that read, “This is not normal.” Rep. Al Green (D., Texas) was removed by Speaker Mike Johnson (R., La.) from the chamber after the former shrieked at the president during his speech.
Dan Conston, the former longtime head of the House Republican leadership’s super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund, told the Reporter that “Democrats were too busy embarrassing themselves with canes and mini signs to consider that what President Trump laid out tonight is a winning, popular, proactive agenda.”
Conston recently launched Watchtower Strategy, a top public affairs firm in Washington, D.C.
Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R., Wis.) told the Reporter that “[A]s an American I’m overjoyed and I’m also shocked that the President of the United States said that we captured the planner or the attack at Abbey Gate and not a single Democrat clapped.”
“That’s pathetic,” he added.
Trump’s team, unsurprisingly, got exactly what it wanted from Trump. Ric Grenell, the Special Presidential Envoy for Special Missions of United States, told the Reporter that “Trump is laser-focused on jobs and the economy,” whereas “it’s clear that Democrats are rudderless.”
President Trump’s speech to Congress saw him touch on immigration, the economy, restoring common sense to America, and foreign affairs. The president’s address also saw him blast the Democrats for being unwilling to ever celebrate his accomplishments and joking that they likely appreciate the work Elon Musk is doing at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“Everybody here, even this side appreciates it, I believe,” President Trump said in his address. “They just don’t want to admit that.”
“Just listen to some of the appalling waste that we have already identified,” he continued. “$22 billion from HHS to provide free housing and cars for illegal aliens. $45 million for diversity, equity, and inclusion scholarships in Burma.”
“$40 million to improve the social and economic inclusion of sedentary migrants. Nobody knows what that is,” the president said to laughs, going down the list of uncovered rampant spending prevalent in the federal government.
American orators rank among history’s best and most memorable, with presidents taking top honors. President George Washington captivated our nation with his Farewell Address, which is still read in the Senate to this day. President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address continues to inspire Americans to continue our great nation’s cause to this day.
Tonight, President Trump’s masterful employment of “The Weave” ensured that his Golden Address has joined these longstanding cornerstones of American political rhetoric.
