SEE YOU IN COURT: Gov. Wes Moore (D., Md.) and Maryland Democrats are in Anne Arundel County Court today due to their efforts to gerrymander Rep. Andy Harris (R., Md.) out of office. Mike Howell, the plaintiff in the case, told the Washington Reporter following opening arguments that “as former Attorney General Jeff Clark made plain to the court, haste makes waste. The General Assembly made a bunch of both with their power grab. It is always a great day to be in court when you have the law and facts on your side.”
TUREK? TUREK?: A new ad from Rep. Ashley Hinson (R., Iowa) goes after her Democratic opponent, Josh Turek, for missing “over 50% of votes” in the state legislature.
REALIGNMENT HAPPENING: In the race to succeed Rep. Ryan Zinke (R., Mont.), Aaron Flint, explained why he’s seeing a surge in union support. “Why would a union endorse a Republican like me here in Montana?” Flint asked. “Dems like my opponent fought to kill coal mining union jobs, boilermaker union jobs, let Russia dump palladium into the US while killing Steelworker jobs in MT, killed the timber industry which also employs Ironworkers, told union railroaders get the jab or lose your job, killed union jobs on the Keystone Pipeline, told teachers to shut up and wear the mask, attacks public employee Border Patrol and ICE agents, and flooded the country with illegal aliens to steal your jobs and undermine your wages, then told YOU to pay for THEIR free healthcare and let men in your daughters locker room. And we wonder why everything got so damn expensive.”
FAMILY TIES: A new piece from Tayte Christensen poses even more problems for Abdul El-Sayed, the Democrats’ nominee for Senate against former Rep. Mike Rogers (R., Mich.). “Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s biological mother, Fatten Elkomy, worked for the U.S. arm of an Islamic charity responsible for harboring Osama bin Laden,” Christensen reported. “In the lead-up to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the years that followed, Elkomy worked for the American arm of the Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), which the U.S. Treasury Department designated in 2004 under its terrorism sanctions program, citing the organization’s alleged support for and safe harboring of Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and Hamas.”
DELIVERING FOR YOU: A new video from Reps. August Pfluger (R., Texas), Mary Miller (R., Ill.), and Marlin Stutzman (R., Ind.) lays out how “House Republicans are delivering for the American people.” All three lawmakers are members of the Pfluger-led Republican Study Committee (RSC). Watch the video here.
ONWARD AND UPWARD: Chandler Rebel is now a Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
EU CALLED OUT: Steve Forbes noted in an op-ed that “The European Union is punishing American technology companies.” In the piece, Forbes argues that “President Trump was right to call for Section 301 investigation. His message has been clear: American companies are neither Europe’s piggy bank nor its punching bag. The investigation must be opened without delay.”
