PATRONIZING PAC PLAY: Mike Smith, the president of the Democrats’ House Majority PAC (HMP) struck a patronizing tone towards the American electorate when asked by Punchbowl News about the GOP’s move to tie Democratic candidates to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). “The DSA stuff, I think Trump is trying to make this into a bigger thing,” Smith said. “And now he’s talking about communists. I would imagine a lot of people in this country don’t even know what communists are and yet he is introducing this word vs. socialism or whatever else they may be.”
KENNEDY CENTER LATEST: The future of the Kennedy Center is in limbo. Roma Daravi with the legendary arts center explained the latest. “Compounding systemic infrastructure failures from decades of neglect have left a crumbling building and safety concerns require an immediate closure of the center’s main building,” Daravi said. “Chairman Trump continues to support this great American institution while legal battles halt the progress to save it.”
LAYING DOWN THE LAW: The Judiciary Committee, under Rep. Jim Jordan (R., Ohio), announced that it, alongside the Oversight Committee and the House Admin Committee, made even more progress on its investigation into ActBlue. “Accepting foreign donations in U.S. elections is illegal,” Jordan’s committee noted. “ActBlue knows this, but repeatedly instructed its fraud prevention analysts to ignore red flags and “give the donor the benefit of the doubt” about contributions with foreign indicators. American elections belong to American citizens. The Committees will not stop pursuing the facts and working to make sure that our elections are only decided by Americans.”
DEBATE 101: Former Rep. Mike Rogers (R., Mich.) ruled out joining Democrat Abdul El-Sayed for a debate that would have been moderated by Roop Raj. Alyssa Brouillet, Rogers’s communications director, said that Raj’s past praise for El-Sayed surrogate Hasan Piker disqualifies Raj as a moderator.
YOU’VE BEEN SERVED: Rep. Jim Jordan (R., Ohio), the Chair of the Oversight Committee, subpoenaed Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano, one of the litany of George Soros-funded prosecutors across the country. Jordan wants Descano to answer for the latter’s lax prosecutions of illegal immigrants.
MONEY MAN: Rep. Brandon Gill (R., Texas) announced that he is running to be the top Republican on the Oversight Committee, and that he has donated over one million dollars to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R., Minn.) praised Gill, saying that “Brandon is a team player and a valued member of the House GOP conference. He’s working every day to keep our Republican majority in November!”
HUNT’S LATEST DEPLOYMENT: President Donald Trump announced that Rep. Wesley Hunt (R., Texas) is his choice to be America’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
OUT OF ORDER: A new survey from price transparency group PatientRightsAdvocate.org of 2,000 hospitals found that under 20 percent of hospitals across America are displaying the price of their items and services, flying in the face of orders from the Trump administration. “This is law for us to know prices,” Cynthia Fisher, the group’s founder, explained. “It is not hard.”
COPS FOR TOM: Rep. Tom Barrett (R., Mich.) announced that the Police Officers Association of Michigan endorsed his reelection campaign. “The Police Officers Association of Michigan represents over 12,000 law enforcement employees across our state who courageously protect and serve our communities every day,” Barrett noted.
LOBBYIST LIABILITIES: In Montana’s open 1st District, Republican Aaron Flint, a longtime military veteran, is out with a new ad, criticizing his lobbyist opponent, Democrat Sam Forstag, for “lobb[ying] the State Leg to allow boys in girls sports and men in girls locker rooms.” Watch it here.
