WE TOLD YOU SO: The Washington Reporter’s editor-in-chief, Matthew Foldi, was the first to report that Rep. Katherine Clark (D., Mass.), the number two House Democrat, would vote for Rep. Thomas Massie’s (R., Ky.) anti-Israel publicity stunt. Clark’s vote for the failed resolution, along with those of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and over half of House Democrats, is a sign of the growing influence of anti-Israel forces in the Democratic Party.
MOORE’S MONEY MOVES: Rep. Barry Moore (R., Ala.) raised almost $800,000 this past quarter, putting him on pace to easily succeed Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R., Ala.), who is himself favored to be Alabama’s next governor.
SCHMITT’S SUCCESSES: Sen. Eric Schmitt (R., Mo.) is not up for reelection this year, but he raised over $600,000 this past quarter, raising eyebrows for his fundraising prowess.
JONES ACT EXPIRATION?: Earlier this month Speaker Johnson (R., La.) and other leading Republicans sent a letter to the Administration urging Trump to end the Jones Act waiver in order to strengthen U.S. shipbuilding. GILLMENTUM: Rep. Brandon Gill (R., Texas) raised over $1 million, despite representing a safe GOP seat. Gill is a freshman to keep an eye on.
SPOTTED: The American Gaming Association (AGA) had a visitor outside its office this week: a car with a mobile billboard featuring Chris Christie pulling the strings of state gambling regulators in Maryland. The ad points to an article in the by Patrick Hauf which found that “casino lobbyists wrote Maryland gaming regulators’ letter to feds.”
DEAD HEAT: Former Sen. John Sununu (R., N.H.) is tied with Rep. Chris Pappas (D., N.H.) in the race for New Hampshire’s open Senate seat, according to a poll from Peak Insights.
APOLOGY TIME: Joel Rubin, Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I., Vt.) Jewish Outreach Director, wants his boss to apologize for “forcing a Nazi-tattooed candidate on us all,” Rubin said of Sanders’s support for Graham Platner. “The fact that the Nazi tattoo wasn’t enough to dump Platner is horrible. He owes us an apology.”
A FINE LEGO: Allies of the Iranian regime put Rep. Randy Fine (R., Fla.) in one of their latest anti-American Lego propaganda videos. Fine’s reaction was simple: “Iranian media made a LEGO version of me,” he wrote. “Not sure how to react, other than I am making it my profile pic.”
BEST IN BUSINESS: President Donald Trump singled out JPMorganChase’s CEO, Jamie Dimon, for praise, saying that the “brilliant” executive “is maybe the greatest banker in this country in many, many decades.”
