APPLY NOW: Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced that, thanks to the Republicans’ Working Families Tax Cuts, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is “surging $300 million in grant funds to support 2-4 cities with a population of 100k or more who are serious in reducing violent crime, restoring law and order, and modernizing their public safety infrastructure.” Applications are due September 1, and can be found here.

IOWA RALLIES BEHIND ZACH LAHN: Businessman and farmer Zach Lahn upset the Trump-endorsed Rep. Randy Feenstra (R., Iowa) to win the GOP’s nomination to succeed Gov. Kim Reynolds (R., Iowa). Feenstra immediately endorsed Lahn following his defeat. Luke Thompson, one of Lahn’s top strategists, called Feenstra “an incredibly classy guy. Can’t wait to fight alongside him and win in November.”
POTENTIAL DEM LOCKOUT: Pay attention to the race in California’s 6th District, where incumbent Rep. Kevin Kiley (I., Calif.) and Republican Michael Stansfield might lock out all Democrats in the top-two election. This would be a major blow to Gov. Gavin Newsom (D., Calif.) and to national Democrats, who drew the seat to guarantee a pickup in November.
CONGRATS: President Donald Trump announced that Nate Morris, an Elon Musk-backed businessman who ran a competitive race for Senate in Kentucky, is his pick to be Ambassador to Colombia.
RNC HIRE: Jocelyn Quinn joined the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) research team; Quinn is an alum of the House Homeland Security Committee, chaired by Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R., N.Y.).
