Rep. Julia Letlow (R., La.) is President Donald Trump’s pick to win this year’s Senate race in Louisiana, and she was one of the first lawmakers to back Trump’s historic strikes against terror targets across the Islamic Republic of Iran in Operation Epic Fury.

Following the joint U.S.-Israel strikes, Letlow noted that “Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and actively plots to kill Americans.”

“President Trump’s decisive strikes send a message that America will not tolerate Iran’s threats to our national security,” the Louisiana lawmaker added. “May God bless our troops and keep them safe as we confront radical Islamic terrorism and seek lasting peace.”

Letlow’s embrace of the Trump administration’s historic strikes launched against Iran come as House and Senate Republicans are nearly unanimous in backing the president. But they’re not alone. Days before Trump struck Iran, House and Senate Republicans received polling that showed that only nine percent of Republican voters would oppose using the military to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

In contrast, 86 percent of Republican voters would support using the military to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. The Washington Reporter discussed this polling with Trump in his latest interview with the Reporter.

“That’s good, that’s good,” the president told the Reporter’s Matthew Foldi. “A poll came out that Republican voters were almost unanimous in using the military to take out Iran’s weapons.”

The political apparatus backing Trump is also united behind his strikes. Joe Gruters, the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) Chair, was quick to support his moves, and the RNC National Press Secretary Kiersten Pels explained to the Reporter that “Operation Epic Fury shows what real American strength on the world stage looks like. President Trump doesn’t issue empty warnings — he acts.”
