With both the midterm elections and the NFL’s kickoff fast approaching, Polymarket is staffing up with a series of high-profile hires that it will rely on as growing swathes of Americans are placing bets on election outcomes and sporting events via prediction markets.
Headlining the hires is Travis VanderZanden, who is the company’s new chief growth officer — VanderZanden, a founder of the e-scooter startup Bird, comes to Polymarket following previous stints at Uber Technologies and Lyft.
Joining VanderZanden at Polymarket are Megan McGrath, a Robinhood alum who is the company’s new chief compliance officer of its U.S. exchange, along with Paul Jordan from Nasdaq, who joined as Polymarket U.S.’s chief risk officer — that trio is being joined by a pair of Coinbase alums as well: Shana Bautista, who previously worked as an FBI official, is Polymarket’s new global head of investigations and intelligence and Natalie Oblazny is its new head of regulatory affairs.
One Polymarket insider told the Washington Reporter that “these expert and industry-wide respected hires will help bring the company to the next level.”
In addition to the new hires, both Polymarket’s policies and marketing teams have already been revamped.
