What to expect on Donald Trump's historic Inauguration Day
Here's what to look out for during Donald Trump's historic second Inauguration
President Donald Trump will return to the White House on January 20, 2025; he has already previewed a sweeping array of executive orders that will tackle everything from border security to international terrorism.
While Trump was forced to cancel the outdoor portion of his Inauguration, his indoor ceremony is signaling that the second Trump term is being greeted far differently than his first: VIPs in attendance include titans of tech like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, of sport like Conor McGregor and Jake Paul, of music like Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts, and more.
While the traditional outdoor components are canceled, Trump has a massive rally planned for Capital One Arena, where he hosted his final pre-presidency rally that featured warmup speakers like Dana White and Trump’s grandchildren, who led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. There appears to be a desk on stage there, suggesting that the 47th president may sign some of his sweeping executive orders in front of a supportive audience.
The day kicked off with Trump and his family attending services at St. John’s church; he and his family subsequently attended the First Lady’s Tea prior to him officially taking office again.
Following Trump’s anticipated arrival at Capital One Arena, he will attend several balls in the evening, where he and Melanie Trump will have their second First Dance. Throughout the day, speakers and honored guests will include Musk, first responders from Butler County, the high school band from incoming Vice President JD Vance’s home town, representation from the New York Military Academy, which Trump attended, and more.
Those who were unable to attend in person can watch on Trump’s social media pages, the GOP’s YouTube page or on Team Trump’s YouTube page.
