Top Democratic candidate under fire for ties to far-left extremists

Cooke has given the GOP plenty more fodder to use against her. She is on video supporting the THRIVE Act, which Green New Deal activists hail as “a progressive recovery package that includes climate, care, immigration, democracy, labor rights, and justice.” She also told voters that she “support[s] the ban of AR-15s,” a policy opposed by Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R., Wis.), a former Navy SEAL. 

“I will say, at a national federal level, I do support the THRIVE Act,” Cooke said. “Um, and I do support um, you know, fully uh, Build Back Better, and fully implementing that.” The THRIVE Act is backed and sponsored by radical Reps. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) and Jamaal Bowman (D., N.Y.).

Republicans are even using Cooke’s business background against her. Van Orden’s campaign noted that Gov. Tony Evers (D., Wis.) appointed Cooke to the board of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp; however, “financial disclosures revealed she worked at one of the small businesses that her nonprofit gave a grant to,” the New York Post reported.
