SCOOP: Lindsey Stirling's Kennedy Center performance scores rave reviews
You may recognize award-winning electric violinist and dancer Lindsey Stirling from Dancing with the Stars or even from her attempt on America’s Got Talent, but one thing is certain: once you see her perform, you won’t forget her.
Stirling pirouetted onto the Kennedy Center’s concert hall like a flame in a red dress, reminiscent of a flamenco dancer, and secured the attention of the crowd instantly, at a show attended by the Washington Reporter
Both of her shows were sold out, the Center told the Reporter.
Under the leadership of both President Donald Trump and of Ambassador Richard Grenell, the Kennedy Center has undergone a renaissance of sorts, welcoming in family-friendly and faith-friendly programs for audiences of all ages and backgrounds while simultaneously rooting out DEI programming and righting the center’s finances.
That change in tenor is noticeable to fans.
“It shows they’re paying attention to unique artists that people of all ages are excited about,” one told the Reporter.
For Stirling’s fans, the opportunity to see her at D.C.’s premiere arts center was one they couldn’t pass up.
“I first discovered Lindsey back in the days of Pandora when she frequented my Ellie Goulding playlists,” Marisela Ramirez, who attended the show, told the Reporter. “She completely blew away my expectations with her performance at the Kennedy Center.”
“The orchestra combined with her electronic twist on classical violin made for a captivating experience,” Ramirez said.
Stirling opened her set with “Crystallize,” her track which has already racked up 78 million views on YouTube and sold more than 1 million singles worldwide.
“The nationally-renowned [National Symphony Orchestra (NSO)] fell into the background as Stirling gave an electrifying performance, dancing with the ease of a trained ballerina while never breaking contact with her bow,” Ramirez explained.
The prancing violinist told stories of her past trials and triumphs in between songs. She performed her song, “Shatter Me,” and explained that the inspiration came from the symmetry of a ballerina trapped inside a cracked snow globe, to her own shackles with anorexia.
The dancing dubstep violinist played some of her most famed requests. From a transcendent rendition of “The Phantom of the Opera” to one of her most revered covers — a unique version of the “Legend of Zelda” video game theme.
Stirling even declared that she will always be her fans ‘gaming queen’, despite not being much of a ‘gamer’ herself.
Stirling mixed her mainstream hits with some newer debuts including “Evil Twin” and “Serenity Found” along with “Untamed” and “Eye of the Untold Her.”
Stirling is electric on the stage and no pun intended — she doesn’t miss a beat. Sterling is a motivational role model for all who see her and delightful performance to add to the Kennedy Center’s growing repertoire.
Her performance at the Kennedy Center proved that Stirling is trailblazing her own path as a classically trained rockstar, the likes of which has never been seen before.
