SCOOP: Democrats' Hill mass mobilization fizzled out quickly
Congress is back in session, and so too are garden variety liberal activists who took several GOP offices by storm this week.
The groups’ anger revolved around several different, disparate, issues, but the two most prominent were opposition to President Donald Trump’s successful efforts to clean up Washington, D.C. and an assortment of demands relating to the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Hill staffers across the Capitol told the Washington Reporter what the scenes looked — and smelled — like.
“There are lib crazies walking around Cannon wearing Handmaid clothes banging on all the conservative offices really aggressively and they smell worse than the homeless,” one staffer reported.
One of the groups left fliers demanding that Republicans “impeach, remove, and convict” Trump — demands which seem unlikely to be met.
“They got up in the face of our intern and ops director and filmed them,” a GOP staffer told the Reporter. “They wanted to know about our stance on impeaching Trump. We threatened to call Capitol Police and they left very quickly.”
Another GOP staffer flagged that “crazies [are] coming into the office back to back yelling at staff,” taking videos of GOP aides as well.
Groups partaking in the protests included For Liberation and Resistance Everywhere (FLARE), the Removal Coalition, and Remember Your Oath. While they advocated for a mass mobilization, the Reporter only observed handfuls of activists around the Capitol throughout the day yesterday.
