Op-Ed: Doug Blair: President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son caps a pathetic career with another broken promise

While the Democratic media complex has tried to paint a rosy portrait of honest ol’ Scranton Joe, Joe Biden is actually a habitual bullshitter who will say or do anything to advance his own interests.

Late last night, President Joe Biden issued a “full and unconditional pardon” for his son Hunter Biden, illustrating once again why he will go down as one of the most corrupt presidents in American history and the biggest liar to sit at the Resolute Desk.

“From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision- making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted,” Biden wrote in a statement released by the White House. “In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.”

The president argued that “without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form,” and that his son wouldn’t have been targeted for legal action if his last name wasn’t Biden. He also claimed that Hunter had turned a corner on his drug abuse and therefore deserved clemency.

The decision to pardon Hunter was a stark about-face from Biden, who had repeatedly promised he would not act to protect his son from prosecution. As recently as last month, White House Press Secretary and DEI hire Karine Jean-Pierre snipped at gathered journalists that “we’ve been asked that question multiple times and our answer stands — which is no.”

Clearly, that was a lie.

Many a Democratic hack has tried to claim this isn’t a big deal or to pivot to how Donald Trump also engaged in political pardons too. But those operatives are conveniently ignoring the scope of Biden’s pardon, and how it goes way further than anything before.

Biden pardoned his son “for those offenses against the United States which he has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024,” giving Hunter a reprieve of nearly 10 years. It’s a strangely long time frame, given that the gun charge Biden focused on in his statement was for a revolver Hunter illegally purchased in 2018.

What happened around 2014 that Biden would be concerned about? Well as it just so happens, Biden’s failson joined the board of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma in 2014. What a totally crazy coincidence!

More likely, this is yet another attempt by Biden to cover up for him and for his family’s corrupt dealings. It’s also one more lie to add to the pile of a man who has spent his entire career deceiving the American public.

Think of all the times Biden lied about how his son Beau died in combat. He would despicably claim to know the pain of Gold Star families while his son died of cancer years after serving.

Going back further, Biden plagiarized former Labour leader Neil Kinnock during his 1988 presidential run, a scandal that revealed several more stolen speeches and ideas from other politicians culminating in a revelation that he had also plagiarized material during his law school days.

Biden lied that he was shot at in Iraq (he was “near where a shot landed”), that he was top of his class in law school (he was almost dead last), and that he would be a one-term president (that one was true, but he had to be dragged out kicking and screaming).

Lies, lies, lies. Endless lies from a man who so many are convinced represents an authentic and genuine politician.

In his statement pardoning his son, Biden wrote “for my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth.” It is ironic that Biden’s political swan song will be one of the most brazen acts of political dishonesty to disgrace the office of the presidency.

It simply wouldn’t do for Joe Biden to end his career any other way.
