Op-Ed: Doug Blair: Elon Musk is not a Nazi; that’s just Leftist projection
"The accusations of Nazi sympathies against Musk are pure leftist projection," Doug Blair writes in his latest op-ed. Here's why.
On the heels of Donald Trump’s triumphant return to the White House, the left is already proving its learned nothing from its catastrophic loss.
Liberals are already resorting to their old “everything I hate is Hitler” spiel as Tesla head and DOGE leader Elon Musk came under fire for allegedly making a Nazi salute during a post- inaugural rally. Musk smacked his chest and extended his arm in what looks unfortunately similar to the Seig Heil salute. Worse for Musk, he did it twice.
Not everyone viewed Musk’s admittedly unfortunate flailing as a sign of fascist leanings. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) posted on Musk’s X that “it seems that Elon Musk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge.”
Yet Democrats were quick to pounce on the clip, accusing Musk of holding Nazi views. “Elon Musk can do whatever he wants behind the presidential seal, but in this country we hate Nazis,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) said in a video posted on Instagram.
Indeed, AOC targeted the ADL for defending Musk, writing on Musk’s X: “just to be clear, you are defending a Heil Hitler salute that was performed and repeated for emphasis and clarity.”
Now I’m not one to stop an enemy while they’re making a mistake, but Democrats might want to do a little introspection before throwing out accusations of anti-Semitism.
Because while Musk is on-camera a single time making an awkward hand gesture, Democrats and their liberal allies have spent the last two-plus years explicitly promoting Jew-murdering terrorist groups.
Following the devastating terrorist attacks against innocent Israelis on October 7, the Left immediately began protesting for Hamas to finish the job. Anti-Semitic chants of “from the river to the sea” could be heard on college campuses across the nation, and more than one Jewish student faced physical violence from terrorist sympathizers more aligned with the Democratic Party than with Elon Musk.
As America seemed primed to combat Houthi pirates in the Red Sea, leftists were praising the terrorists, or at the very least, thirsting over the hot ones. And following targeted pager explosions eliminating several Hezbollah terrorist leaders, Democrats like Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) were more concerned with attacking Israel than with celebrating the deaths of America’s enemies.
If there is any side of the political aisle most engaged in anti-Semitism, it is the Democratic Party that continues to remain silent as large swathes of its voter base engage in vile Jew hatred.
Musk hasn’t been the one chanting genocidal slogans, nor praising America’s enemies when they slaughter Jews. To the contrary, Musk has openly expressed his desire for Israel’s victory in their conflict with the encroaching terrorist forces.
In 2023, Musk visited an Israeli kibbutz attacked by Hamas on October 7 and met with President Isaac Herzog as well as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who recently thanked Musk for his steadfast support.
Some time during his trip, Musk received a necklace with the Hebrew text “bring them home” from the parents of one of the Israeli hostages which he swore he would never remove as long as there were still hostages remaining in Gaza.
Wow, the guy sounds like a real Nazi!
The accusations of Nazi sympathies against Musk are pure leftist projection. Democrats and their ilk have emboldened blatant displays of Jew hatred within their ranks by tacitly supporting the anti-Semitism in their coalition, and then have the gall to pretend an awkward gesture by Musk is proof he’s a fascist.
But Democrats’ shameful attempt to pivot away from their own festering failures has become old hat, and few Americans will be swayed by yet more accusations that it’s actually the GOP responsible for the increasing violence perpetrated against Jews.
This is yet another example of the boy who cried wolf. Or, I suppose, the boy who cried Hitler.
