What we’re hearing from people we trust on and around the Hill – please send us more tips!

  • Missed me: “The tragic and shocking events of July 13 were preventable and should not have happened,” wrote the bipartisan Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump in today’s bombshell report, which is separate from the one required to be released later this year. Findings include that “federal, state, and local law enforcement officers could have engaged [attempted assassin] Thomas Matthew Crooks at several pivotal moments” and that there was “a lack of planning and coordination between the Secret Service and its law enforcement partners before the rally.”

  • History in the making: Our friends at the Manhattan Institute are out with a poll showing that support for Democrats among Jewish voters has hit the lowest levels since the Reagan era. Read more about their poll here.

  • Play ball: Sen. Steve Daines (R., Mont.) is criticizing the red-hot Washington Commanders for censoring an image of an iconic Native American. “Montanan Blackie Wetzel inspired the logo and said ‘It made us all so proud to have an Indian on a big time team.’ There’s no reason to remove an image of a Native American,” Daines said. “It should be proudly displayed.”

  • Maryland matters: The Democrats’ push for control of the House is being complicated by Republican Neil Parrott’s strength in an open seat just outside of Washington,. D.C. The entire House GOP leadership slate just endorsed Parrott.

  • Notable quotable: Thanks to the Daily Caller for quoting an op-ed we published from Reps. Brett Guthrie (R., Ky.) and Morgan Griffith (R., Va.) about the problems with the Biden-Harris administration’s EPA.

  • Bobby Jindal & Lina Khan?: After FTC chairwoman Lina Khan started campaigning for Kamala Harris and other progressive Democrats, former Governor Bobby Jindal published an op-ed praising Khan’s work on healthcare issues, raising some eyebrows on Capitol Hill. Most Republican members that the Washington Reporter has spoke with want Khan gone.
