EXCLUSIVE: "Senior people" for Joe Biden's CIA Director "constantly" used Signal, sharing sensitive but unclassified information
Several of President Joe Biden’s CIA Director Bill Burns’s top staffers “constantly” used Signal, the Washington Reporter can reveal, according to a high-level national security source who has served across multiple intelligence agencies.
The source was directly in chats with “at least 4” of Burns’s “senior people.” Burns’ team used Signal to share sensitive but unclassified (SBU) information, the source added.
The veteran national security official exclusively discussed Burns’ team’s reliance on Signal with the Reporter. Attempts to reach Burns were unsuccessful.
Beyond just Burns’s team, the source added that countless top officials in the Biden administration “constantly” used Signal to share SBU information with them.
“It was regularly SBU,” the source said, adding that they used Signal “with NSC officials, Jake Sullivan’s team, the State Department, and the CIA.”
“I regularly and almost exclusively did Signal and they were constantly sharing SBU with me,” the source said.
The Reporter previously exclusively confirmed that Biden administration Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines used Signal “all the time and on her personal phone.”
Top Democrats who have criticized Trump officials for using Signal did not reply to the Reporter’s requests for comment.
