Exclusive: Rep. Tim Walberg probes Biden administration’s elevation of self-proclaimed “revolutionary” “woke administrator”
A top Biden administration official attacked "CAUdaacity" and promoted wokeness; Rep. Tim Walberg wants answers before Trump takes office.
Rep. Tim Walberg (R., Mich.), one of the GOP’s top education policymakers, wants to know why a self-proclaimed “revolutionary” and “woke administrator” was, following congressional scrutiny, shuffled from the Department of Defense (DOD) to the Department of Education
Kelisa Wing, the Department of Defense’s Chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Department of Defense Education Activity, was hired by the Department of Education, where she served as a senior advisor to Secretary Miguel Cardona, Walberg noted in a letter to Cardona, first obtained by the Washington Reporter.
“Ms. Wing has risen to notoriety due to her inflammatory statements, social media posts, and controversial education positions,” Walberg wrote. “Ms. Wing promoted gender ideology and sought to use her position to promote her woke ideologies through her own personal writings.”
In social media posts, for example, Wing wrote, “I’m so exhausted at these white folx in these PD [professional development] sessions this lady actually had the CAUdaacity [sic] to say that black people can be racist too … I had to stop the session and give Karen the BUSINESS … we are not the majority, we don’t have power.”
Walberg’s concern is that Wing continues to work at high levels of government even after Congress publicized her writings — and he wants answers from Cardona. “Given her questionable record of service at [DOD], on what grounds or justification did you bring her into the Department as a senior advisor?” he wrote to Cardona.
Republican lawmakers had written multiple times to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin asking if he was familiar with Wing’s racial activism prior to her hiring and if the Department of Defense endorses her views.
“It is outrageous that a DoD official whose job it is to oversee ‘worldwide K-12 education programs for the children of DoD personnel’ has engaged in racially disparaging comments with clear inflammatory language on her social media and in other writings,” Reps. Mike Rogers (R., Ala.) and Jim Banks (R., Ind.) wrote to Austin. “To date, no meaningful answers have been forthcoming.”
