EXCLUSIVE: President Trump earns bipartisan congressional praise for strikes on Iran
President Donald Trump scored another bipartisan win this week thanks to the historic success of Operation Midnight Hammer.
Trump’s successful destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities is the subject of Rep. Mark Alford’s (R., Mo.) latest move in Congress. Alford is unveiling of a bipartisan resolution that congratulates the heroism of the Airmen of the 509th and 131st Bomb Wings during the mission.
Alford is joined in rolling it out by Reps. Don Davis (D., N.C.), Tony Gonzales (R., Texas), John Carter (R., Texas), Sam Graves (R., Mo.), and Juan Ciscomani (R., Ariz.) — but the legislation itself hits particularly close to home for Alford.
Alford represents Whiteman Air Force Base, the home of the B-2 Stealth Bomber, the Air Force’s 509th Bomb Wing, and the Air National Guard’s 131st Bomb Wing. Alford is also the co-chair of the Congressional Long Range Strike Caucus. But he said that ultimately, Trump gets the lion’s share of the credit.
“Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, Operation Midnight Hammer was executed with unparalleled coordination, precision, and competence to decapitate Iran’s nuclear program, Alford said.
“The men and women of the 509th and 131st Bomb Wings out of Whiteman Air Force Base showed their exemplary dedication and skill,” he continued. “They deserve the recognition of the American people’s elected representatives. That’s why I’m proud to introduce this Resolution to honor their service and success.”
Gonzales, who is a longtime military veteran who spent multiple campaigns in the Middle East, added that “no matter what the mission is, American servicemembers always rise to the challenge, and Operation Midnight Hammer in Iran is no exception.”
“There is no other military in the world that could have executed a precision strike on nuclear sites with such excellence, and the men and women who made it happen deserve full recognition for their efforts,” Gonzales said.
