A leading Latino group has committed to spending big on a pair of two House Republicans facing uphill battles this November.

Reps. Bryan Steil (R., Wis.) and Dan Newhouse (R., Wash.) scored the backing of the LIBRE Initiative Action, which will support phone calls and digital ads for Steil as well as digital ads for Newhouse; the endorsements were first reported by the Washington Reporter.

LIBRE Initiative Action touted Steil’s work partnering “with families and business owners throughout every part of his district over the years, working with business owners to decrease burdensome regulations and lower taxes.”

Sandra Benitez, senior advisor to The LIBRE Initiative Action, added that “Latinos are eager for principled leaders who prioritize solutions that empower our community and all Americans. We need candidates who champion policies for economic growth and opportunity while advocating against the expansion of big government policies that only benefit Washington.”

Benitez’s group has already endorsed several top-tier GOP incumbents and challengers across the country, including Senate candidates Eric Hovde, Bernie Moreno, Sam Brown, Dave McCormick, and Mike Rogers, alongside Reps. John James (R., Mich.) and John Duarte (R., Calif.) as well as Derrick Anderson, Gabe Evans, and Rob Bresnahan.

Steil is facing a spirited challenge from Democrat Peter Barca, but most observers expect him to prevail. Newhouse, on the other hand, faces a fellow Republican, Jerrod Sessler, in a top-two match. LIBRE Action’s conservative credentials are stellar, and should help Newhouse prevail against the challenger from his right flank, which Daniel Garza, one of LIBRE’s senior advisors, emphasized to the Reporter.

“As someone who grew up in Washington State, I can say with pride that Congressman Dan Newhouse is dedicated to fostering a strong economy that empowers individuals rather than relying on Washington, D.C.,” Garza said. “He supports policies to reduce inflation, manage our lands and unleash American energy, fight burdensome regulations, and promote small businesses and innovation — key elements that drive economic growth and job creation.”
