The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has a steadfast leader in Director Bill Pulte — and every American should be thankful for his leadership. While the liberal media and Democrats have attacked Pulte with everything under the sun, the one thing that they haven’t said is that he is wrong — and that is because everything Pulte has done at FHFA is by the books, is fair, and is exactly what we need .
His leadership deserves our praise and the Washington Reporter is grateful for his service. Here is why we should all be thankful that President Donald Trump made the decision to appoint Pulte to lead FHFA.
First, Pulte’s work to stop mortgage fraud is not a witch hunt — but rather is a necessary enforcement of the law. By launching a public tipline for reporting fraudulent mortgage activities, Pulte is addressing a real problem that has allowed the rich and powerful like Sen. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.), Lisa Cook, and Tish James to abuse the mortgage system. Why should these politicians get special treatment and lower mortgage rates, just because they are in power?
Second, critics are claiming Pulte’s fraud investigations are simply payback for the weaponization against President Trump, but this is false. The cases against Trump were garbage. They were not rooted in fact. Prosecutors used novel legal theories or simply made up facts to pretend that the Trump Organization categorizing a payment to a lawyer as a legal fee is something that warrants 43 felony charges.
In contrast, Pulte’s allegations against high-profile figures like New York Attorney General Letitia James and Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook are grounded in documented claims, such as falsified property records and misrepresentations of primary residences. Unlike the speculative accusations leveled at Trump, Pulte’s investigations are rooted in a commitment to transparency and accountability, not partisan agendas.
Third, Pulte is doing us all a favor by sending a powerful and nonpartisan message: no one is above the law. This approach is vital for restoring confidence in our institutions that have been so damaged by the left. Mortgage fraud erodes trust in the housing finance system, affecting everyday Americans who rely on fair lending practices.
His leadership is a model of integrity showing that everyone will be treated the same. Make no mistake — if anyone reading this outlet committed blatant mortgage fraud, you would be prosecuted. Why should Adam Schiff get a special break that average Americans don’t get?
Beyond the high-profile work, Pulte’s effective day-to-day management of the FHFA is also noteworthy. He’s restructured the agency, cut fraud and waste, and implemented technology that will make our housing system more secure. As he told us in an interview, he implemented common sense reforms like requiring the FHFA’s staff to work in-person.
“How can you run the United States mortgage business with 18,000 people working remotely?” he asked in our interview from earlier this summer. How indeed?
In an era where many of our institutions are failing, Bill Pulte’s leadership at the FHFA stands out as a model of leadership. By enforcing the law, rooting out fraud, and running an efficient agency, he is not only protecting the housing market, but he is also restoring faith in the integrity of our financial systems. For this, he has our thanks.
The Washington Reporter stands with Director Pulte.
