EXCLUSIVE: White House praises Ford as ‘GREAT American Company’ for bringing production back to U.S.
The White House praised Ford Motor Company as a “GREAT American company” Wednesday, pointing to the automaker’s growing domestic investments and efforts to bring production back to the United States.
“Ford is a GREAT American company and has done a tremendous job on increasing investments domestically and shoring production back to the U.S.,” the White House’s Rapid Response account said.
The praise follows a series of major American manufacturing moves by Ford that have received support from Trump administration officials and Republican lawmakers.
The Washington Reporter reported last week that Acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling praised Ford’s decision to phase out imports of Lincoln vehicles from China and expand production in the United States.
“This is exactly what we want to see,” Sonderling told the Reporter.
Sonderling said Ford’s investments were helping deliver the reindustrialization President Donald Trump promised.
“The manufacturing jobs, the reindustrialization that President Trump promised, you’re seeing in the auto industry, you’re seeing in the pharmaceutical industry,” Sonderling said. “We want these jobs to stay. We want them to go to American workers.”
Ford has emerged as one of the country’s largest domestic auto manufacturers.
The Reporter reported earlier this year that 83 percent of Ford vehicles sold in the United States in 2025 were assembled domestically. Ford produced more than 2 million vehicles in the United States, the most of any automaker.
Rep. Bill Huizenga (R., Mich.) told the Reporter at the time that it was “great to see a Michigan manufacturer like Ford prioritize assembling their products in the United States.”
Trump has also personally highlighted Ford’s manufacturing footprint. In January, the president visited Ford’s River Rouge Complex in Michigan as part of his push to expand American manufacturing and make U.S.-built vehicles more affordable.
The White House praised Ford’s investments following the visit, while Trump touted tax relief for buyers of American-made vehicles and his administration’s push to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States.
The latest White House statement adds to the growing praise for Ford as the company expands its U.S. manufacturing footprint and shifts more production back to American workers.
