Dan Osborn, a purportedly independent Senate candidate with extensive ties to national Democrats, is walking a fine line in a politically conservative state when it comes to abortion. While Osborn tells voters he is a “personally pro-life” independent, he “quietly” scrubbed mentions of abortion from his campaign website, according to the Washington Free Beacon.
Osborn has also taken campaign cash tied to Planned Parenthood’s lobbyists, which further complicates his efforts to connect with the Cornhusker State’s conservative electorate.
But Osborn’s campaign finance disclosures further complicate his already-uphill bid to oust Sen. Pete Ricketts (R., Neb.). Campaign filings obtained by the Washington Reporter show that Osborn has paid his daughter thousands of dollars from his campaign for “assistant services.”
“Behind [Osborn’s] blue-collar populist persona lies a stark contradiction as campaign funds flow directly to a family member deeply embedded in extreme abortion shock-art performance,” a GOP strategist told the Reporter.
The Daily Wire previously linked Osborn’s daughter to online sex work on platforms like StripChat. Beyond adult webcams, her work extended onto the stage with Pussy Riot, a Russian feminist shock-art collective notorious for extreme pro-abortion demonstrations.
Osborn’s daughter previously boasted publicly on Instagram about performing in San Diego alongside the balaclava-clad group. Pussy Riot’s political antics feature displaying a ten-foot inflatable vagina on public steps, including outside the Indiana Supreme Court, while screaming “God Save Abortion” over heavy metal tracks laden with anti-Christian imagery.
Osborn’s campaign paying $4,200 to his daughter is the latest piece of a much larger puzzle of family enrichment. Previous reporting indicated that the Osborn family has routed nearly half a million dollars out of his campaign apparatus and affiliated political entities, triggering formal FEC complaints targeting it as an alleged payout scheme.
Osborn’s inner circle and political background are further shadowed by a series of unsettling connections. Osborn’s independent bid was originally engineered by socialist operative Daniel Moraff, who was blacklisted from political work following multiple sexual misconduct complaints.
Osborn’s media consultant, Morris Katz, authored a puberty book for young boys containing disturbing footnotes regarding explicit illustrations. The Nebraska Democrats backing Osborn’s ostensibly independent campaign also face ongoing lawsuits from local leaders alleging unaddressed sexual harassment within party ranks, and Osborn’s own digital footprint includes an email address linked to the 2015 Ashley Madison breach alongside questionable social media activity.
As Nebraskans evaluate the race, Osborn’s attempt to portray himself as a sensible, pro-life independent faces increasing scrutiny under the weight of his campaign’s financial payouts and documented associations.
Osborn previously lost an independent Senate bid against Sen. Deb Fischer (R., Neb.) in 2024, in which the Reporter and other outlets repeatedly covered his extensive ties to the Democratic Party. He lost almost every county in Nebraska to Fischer.
Osborn’s campaign did not respond to request for comment about how he reconciles his daughter’s activism with his own political views.
