EXCLUSIVE: Graham Platner called healthcare a "basic human right." He's not providing it to his staff.

The Washington Reporter

Self-described communist Graham Platner does not appear to provide the type of coverage to his employees that he seems to believe is a necessity.

A prominent Democratic Senate candidate who reportedly has “a lot in common” with Adolf Hitler is also under fire for campaign trail hypocrisy when it comes to failing to provide health insurance for his campaign staff.

Graham Platner is a self-described communist running for U.S. Senate in Maine who has previously described health care as a “basic human right”; but he is not paying for his staff’s health insurance, a Washington Reporter review of his campaign finance disclosures shows.

Platner’s campaign raised over $3 million in his highly-touted campaign for Senate, but despite how he rails against the current health insurance system as a “disaster,” he does not appear to provide the type of coverage to his employees that he seems to believe is a necessity.

The Platner campaign did not respond to request for comment — but one Republican source was eager to spotlight his seemingly hypocrisy. “If Graham Platner cannot even give his staff healthcare, how does he expect to carry out his plan of healthcare for all?”

When Platner announced his campaign for Senate, he quickly took the progressive grassroots by storm, but Senate Democrats were eager for controversial Gov. Janet Mills (D., Maine) to jump in the race against Sen. Susan Collins (R., Maine) — which Mills did, after accidentally announcing her campaign.

Since Platner’s campaign launch, he has been dogged by seemingly endless stories about accusations of sexism and racism.

Platner decided to preempt the latest rumored story by getting ahead of it himself. The self-proclaimed “communist” went on a liberal podcast to explain why he had what appears to be a Nazi tattoo on his chest.
