EXCLUSIVE: Darline Graham campaign launches video game to expose Annie Andrews’ record
Sen. Darline Graham’s (R., S.C.) campaign is launching an elaborate new interactive video game targeting Democratic Senate nominee Annie Andrews, turning opposition research on the South Carolina Democrat into an old-school virtual doctor’s office.
The new website, “Dr. Annie’s Waiting Room,”, puts voters inside a retro-style medical waiting room where they can walk around, interact with patients and uncover the case against Andrews.
“Dr. Annie Andrews is the most liberal and radical person ever nominated for U.S. Senate in South Carolina,” the game tells players before sending them into the waiting room. Users navigate the waiting room, approach patients and examine them to learn about different parts of Andrews’ record and political positions.
Players work their way through the room until the game declares: “Waiting room cleared. Campaign saved.”
The digital offensive comes as Graham increasingly defines Andrews ahead of their general-election showdown.
Graham has made Andrews’ liberal ideology a central argument of her campaign, calling her “the most radical liberal ever nominated for a statewide office by the South Carolina Democratic Party.”
Andrews has claimed to be a moderate, but the Graham campaign is undercutting that message by putting Andrews’ record directly in front of voters in a format designed to be more engaging and shareable than a traditional campaign website.
The game also arrives as the Senate race enters a more aggressive phase.
Graham and Andrews are scheduled to face off in a televised debate on Oct. 11 on SCETV in Columbia. When accepting the debate, Graham said she planned to “expose Annie Andrews’ radical positions she’s spent the last year hiding from South Carolina families.”
A Republican campaign operative told the Reporter, “This site is remarkably effective because it combines a fun game with true facts about how Annie Andrews is all in on the trans agenda. This is going to be a norm in campaigns.”
The launch gives Graham another weapon to define Andrews with less than seven weeks remaining before Election Day and less than a month before the candidates meet on the debate stage.
