When President Donald Trump tapped Tulsi Gabbard to serve as the head of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), it’s no secret that he ruffled feathers on Capitol Hill and beyond.

But Gabbard proved to be the right pick for Trump, and for America, at the right time, and she has the battle scars from fighting the Deep State to prove it. Now, Trump chose another unorthodox pick to helm America’s intelligence community (IC), Bill Pulte.

For years, Bill Pulte has been a loyal ally to President Trump and to conservative policies. Now, Pulte has his toughest mission yet: reining in a still out of control Deep State, continuing to advance President Trump’s intelligence reforms, while continuing to run the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac — both of which he has already done an incredible job reforming.

Pulte, one longtime Hill staffer told the Washington Reporter, “is deeply-respected among by conservative policy staffers for his business acumen and his ability to handle tough intelligence issues.” That skillset will be critical as Pulte steps into the front lines of America’s conflicts with China, Russia, Iran, and their proxies in our own hemisphere.

Following Trump’s announcement, the Reporter spoke with several individuals close to the Trump administration expressed strong support for the selection.

Pulte is no doubt an unorthodox choice for the role. However, picking someone with a non-typical background who is immensely talented and respected has been the approach that has allowed President Trump to succeed so well. Pulte brings the management skills, the integrity, and the relationships needed to be an enormously effective Director of National Intelligence. He is fully aligned with Trump on issues like the maximum pressure campaign against Iran and peace through strength, a source close to Pulte said.

Pulte will need to work closely with the Hill in his new role, which he has already done in spades while at the FHFA. The Reporter recently covered an event that he did alongside Sen. Tim Scott (R., S.C.) and Scott Turner, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that announced major changes to America’s housing finance system.

“Conservatives on the Hill are thrilled to have a partner like Pulte,” one GOP veteran told the Reporter of the Pulte selection. “He is a businessman who will clean up the deep state agencies trying to undermine POTUS while making our intelligence agencies more efficient and effective.”

Pulte is the man for this job. He is an inspired pick by an inspired president. Every American who is concerned about our safety and security can rest a little easier tonight knowing that Pulte is overseeing our intelligence agencies.  Pulte has big shoes to fill to replace Director Gabbard, but it is hard to imagine anyone more qualified and respected than Acting DNI Director Bill Pulte.
