Democratic Party candidates and elected officials are struggling to grapple with what to do with Graham Platner, as his campaign continues to weather scandal after scandal.
In Washington, D.C., Democratic lawmakers mostly defended Platner followed revelations that he sent sexually explicit messages to up to a dozen women shortly after his 2023 marriage, and that he continued to maintain an account on Kik — a website linked to multiple high-profile incidents of child sex trafficking.
But one of Platner’s first scandals — the Nazi tattoo he bore on his chest for years — is now undercutting a Jewish Democrat’s campaign in Florida.
In a video obtained by the Washington Reporter, Senate candidate Alex Vindman describes himself as a Jewish American — but demurs when he is pressed about whether Platner’s Nazi tattoo — which he recently covered up but did not remove — is disqualifying.
“I think that these are questions that should be put before the electorate,” Vindman said, as staff and supporters gathered around him. “He has to answer those questions to the satisfaction of his electorate. Those are the fundamental issues that are put before folks before they vote.”
“What’s your point?” he asked the questioner. “You seem very very nervous. You seem very very nervous, like you’re on the spot, trying to pick a fight.”
Vindman is running against Sen. Ashley Moody (R., Fla.) in a race that Republicans are favored to win — despite Vindman’s eyebrow-raising fundraising successes.
The Reporter previously reported that a pro-Hitler candidate in Maine said last year that he has “alot in common” with Platner.
