EXCLUSIVE: Leading Florida House candidate Michael Carbonara praises TrumpRx as program gains momentum

Michael Carbonara, the leading Republican candidate for Florida’s 22nd House District and a successful businessman, is praising President Donald Trump’s TrumpRx initiative as a major win for seniors struggling with high prescription drug costs, another sign of the growing political potency of the program with Republican candidates and voters.

“TrumpRx represents a win for so many of the senior Floridians I am running to represent,” Carbonara told the Washington Reporter in an exclusive statement. “One of the biggest challenges facing seniors is their ability to afford their prescription drugs. TrumpRx has taken that concern away for so many of them here in Florida.”

Carbonara’s comments come as TrumpRx increasingly emerges as one of the Trump administration’s most politically powerful healthcare affordability initiatives ahead of the 2026 elections. Republicans across the country have begun elevating the program as an example of President Trump delivering direct economic relief to working families and retirees struggling with healthcare costs.

The Washington Reporter has previously covered the expansion of TrumpRx into generic drugs and the growing support the initiative has received from Republican lawmakers and candidates nationwide.

Carbonara, who has built a reputation as a businessman focused on economic growth and opportunity, framed the issue as particularly urgent for Florida seniors, many of whom live on fixed incomes and continue to face rising healthcare expenses.

“Whether it is being able to afford their insulin or other life sustaining drugs, TrumpRx has drastically reduced those costs,” Carbonara said. “I’m running to help President Trump deliver solutions like TrumpRx that give all Floridians greater economic freedom.”

Florida has one of the nation’s largest senior populations, making prescription drug affordability a major political issue in both state and federal races. Republicans increasingly believe TrumpRx is resonating with voters because it directly addresses kitchen-table economic concerns that affect retirees and working families alike.

Carbonara’s embrace of the program also highlights how closely many Republican candidates are aligning themselves with President Trump’s affordability agenda heading into the midterm cycle. GOP candidates have increasingly argued that lowering prescription drug prices, reducing healthcare costs, and expanding economic freedom are among the strongest issues for Republicans with swing voters and seniors.

Republicans have also pointed to TrumpRx as evidence that conservative healthcare reforms can produce tangible benefits for consumers without expanding government-run healthcare systems.

As the program continues expanding and gains traction with seniors, Republican operatives increasingly view TrumpRx as both a substantive policy achievement and a politically potent issue in key battleground states like Florida.
