President Donald Trump’s artificial intelligence (AI) policies are major political winners, according to a poll obtained exclusively by the Washington Reporter.

In March, Trump sent Congress an AI framework, which his administration described as a “comprehensive national legislative framework that addresses the most pressing policy topics that AI presents.” 69 percent of voters support the president’s framework, according to a poll conducted by RMG Research for Build American AI (BAAI).

BAAI’s poll further found that 30 percent of voters “strongly” favor Trump’s proposals; furthermore, only 19 percent of voters are opposed to it. These numbers remain strong across party lines; even when Trump’s name is expressly attached to it, a majority of Democrats continue to support it, alongside 86 percent of Republicans and 66 percent of independents.

The poll suggests that leaning into AI could help Trump and Republicans heading into the midterms; the White House’s AI framework is backed by majorities of men and women, and white, black, and Hispanic voters all support it at around 62 percent each.

Additionally, both college graduates and those without college degrees support the framework. The former backs it with 75 percent support and 66 percent of the latter back it.

Political strategists working in the AI realm are not surprised by these results. “It is time to build the next American century,” Zac Moffatt, a co-strategist of Leading the Future, told the Reporter. “Americans understand what’s at stake in the global race for AI, and these numbers make it clear they want the United States to lead with a strong, thoughtful approach like the one the Trump administration put forward in its recommendations to Congress. They also recognize a patchwork of conflicting state-level rules will harm our ability to innovate, create jobs and protect children and families.”

RMG Research’s poll for BAAI surveyed 1,000 registered voters across America from May 4-5.
