President Donald Trump’s historic success in eliminating Iran’s chain of command during Operation Epic Fury, and his cinematic rescue operation in which American troops rescued a downed airman in Iran, will send a message to countries far beyond the Middle East, the president told the Washington Reporter in his latest interview.

“Our military makes an interesting point of leverage,” Trump told the Reporter. “We have the greatest military in the world,” he added. During his interview with the Reporter’s Editor-in-Chief Matthew Foldi, the president made it clear that he was proud of the U.S. military’s stunning success in the operation, which was quickly dubbed “the most daring US special operation in history.”

Trump postponed his long-awaited summit in China with Xi Jinping in order to continue his focus on obliterating Iran’s ability to obtain nuclear weapons. As Operation Epic Fury has unfolded, America’s allies in the Gulf have shifted increasingly toward America, handing the president another diplomatic victory.

But it’s not just American military might that Trump thinks sends a strong and unequivocal message to Xi. He spoke with the Reporter shortly after another successful jobs report rolled out, and he said that those findings will be “interesting” to add into the mix.

Trump is expected to cover everything from trade to China’s extensive track record of flooding American markets with illicit vapes, many of which expressly target teenagers via creative flavors and video game attachments, during his China visit.

President Trump has received widespread praise for his leadership and handling of the rescue mission. A senior Republican operative told the Reporter that “this may have been the most impressive American rescue mission of all time. And it took a decisive, gutsy Commander-in-Chief to approve it. What an incredible morale boost and reminder that there is nothing more lethal, professional, and loyal than the American military.”
